Goobing about Gossamer Commons

Posted on 2005.03.29 at 11:09
Well, after a week of heavy pimping, I let Gossamer Commons update without particular note on Monday. Now, we had a bit first day, and slopeoff since (fully to be expected), counting just unique visitors. (Hits have been consistent, but some of those are reading the archive, obviously. Or checking out the FAQ and Cast page and the like).

Still, just shy of 1,100 unique visitors came calling on Monday. Which puts us extremely well for the 7th strip. And of course, that means that people on AOL or other such aggregate lines will show up as a single person.

Bloglines is resolved, finally, as well -- so all RSS issues are resolved. Now, we just need to gut the CMS and put in a wholly new one, because right now it's trivial for people to read future strips (and scrape the thing as a whole), and we don' want that. We're going to do a Wordpress thing. Wednesday, it should be said, rocks.

As for me? I've lost another 8.5 lbs. Life really kind of rocks.

I don't think so. *hug* I have no cap, as they say.

Must be my boys then. You have no cap because you have tossable windswept hair. LMAO

What? Burns missed a chance to go on and on about the excessive amount of thick, thick hair he has? There was a time when I hated that overly prodigious mop of hair.

But then.....full-on baldness ensued. Sweet, sweet bad-ass baldness.

Chicks dig the scalp, baby!

Ab-sol-fucking-lutly! The baldness is awesome. Very sexy. Mister Burn's hair is perfect for him though..... great for............ well maybe we shouldn't go into that. lol

What now?

It's true. I'm burdened with a thick, manly head of hair, flowing like virility itself in the wind. I have to get it trimmed often just to keep it from possibly causing automotive accidents or striking down those who get too close without caution.

Frank is just so, so lucky that he doesn't have to endure this terrible responsibility.

Grats on the weightloss, I'm not finding it so easy based on the quality of campus food.

And forgive my ignorance of Acronyms, but what's the CMS?
Demiurgent
[info]demiurgent at 2005-03-29 16:47 (UTC) (Link)
Content Management System. In effect, what lets GC update without my having to manually change pages each time.

We use iStrip, which has many good qualities but also many bad ones. It's a stopgap until we get a more robust and secure solution in place. Which Weds is working on, because she rocks.

Hey thanks! I like your... affinity for corsets!
[info]corsetress at 2005-03-29 20:06 (UTC) (Link)
It has to be somebodies job to make awesome webcomics ..... (bowing to Eric,Greg and Weds) And somebodies job to tie people up in corsets . That's me. That is what makes the world go round.

Lost 8.5 pounds? I think I am going to have to investigate this daily webcomic writing diet.

Been following the strip since you got it started. You had me believing this was a semi-autobiographical work (perhaps it still is), but my insect anttenae began thrusting about in caution when one of the fay folk appeared. I love the detailed artwork, particularly the textures in the landscapes and backgrounds.

Yay on the comics stuff, and yay on the weight! (And it turns out one of the teachers at the minx's preschool has had a gastric bypass and may have some ammo in making insurance companies cough up for the follow-ups on that. She's going to photocopy the article, from a nursing magazine, and give me the copy.)

Congrats on the 8.5 pounds. You just shed your average newborn baby! (When I lost my initial astronomical amount of weight after the surgery, I turned to my best friend and said, "I have lost a you.")

I'm also enjoying Gossamer Commons so far. The black and white linework is wonderful and the story looks like it's shaping up to be an interesting one.

My sincere apologies Mr. Snark, I haven't been following your journal long enough to know you had the gastric bypass procedure done. Kudos to you for having the fortitude to have the surgery performed. Despite typing medical reports all day (and yes, I am somewhat familiar with the details of the gastric bypass procedure), I am rather a coward when it comes to anything that puts me defenseless and in someone else's hands.

Hey Bro? That 8.5 pounds that you lost? I think I found it under the sofa, covered in cat-fluff. Where should I send it?
[info]corsetress at 2005-03-30 01:49 (UTC) (Link)
Please before sending put holes in the box for air and a snack for the trip.

I think the ASCPA would be its best home.

Or alternately... the Chinese Buffet.

"Chinese Buffet" gladly adopted said cat-fluff covered globular entity.

Coincidentally, a new menu item is appearing on tomorrow's menu: Hot and Spicy Fat Balls.

First, I'd like to note that you, in addition to life, rock.

Second, I'd like to say that I'm actually kind of honoured that you have friended me back. I was somewhat blown away to see that you were now a 'Fellow Friend'. Man, I thought all the famous people were too busy to go about that sort of thing ;).
