I'm avoiding writing about John Stark on Websnark right now...

Posted on 2005.10.07 at 23:43
...but I wanted to mention somewhere that the Friday John Stark (the one about Enoch Poor) might be my favorite joke in it to date.

For what it's worth.

It is worth nothing! NOTHING!

Ok, fine, its worth $0.14, but not a ha'penny more...

Stop being talented!

Do Grigori come over and ask to send e-mail to God on it?

Who is Grigori?

Nevermind, they are the fathers of the Nephilim, I just wasn't familiar with that particular name for them.

Right. And in the Books of Enoch (Biblical Apocrypha), the Watchers/Grigori sought out Enoch and asked him, as a prophet, to ask God to forgive them and let them return to Heaven. He then ascended to Heaven in a rapture, and the Angels told him that the Grigori would never be let back in.

Yes, I'm a monumental geek.

I'm not familiar with all the details - it's been a long time since I read it.

You'd think I should know, though.

Holy crap. I actually knew what you were talking about before the explanation. Does that make me a monumental geek too? I always thought it was just a fondness for.. y'know.. stuff.

Awesome, he says, switching IDs. As you can see, it's a new aesthetic. More personal. But I'm really happy with it.

And Comic Art inspired me to tinker with a webcomic too, which is fun. I may well e-mail you about that and see if I can beg comments on the first few pages.

I commented on John Stark in my AP U.S. History class last week and recommended it to my civ teacher/academic team coach/marching band staff member as well, who reads Websnark semi-regularly. Thought you might be interested in learning of that sort of thing.

I'm really enjoying the John Stark comic. Too often, when people look at historical figures, it's all wooden (Think: Gone to Texas) and stiff, as if those involved forget that they were people.

The tone you set for him is funny, aye, but it also depicts him as a person, just as capable of bein' catty as the rest of us. It's odd to think that more contemporary Americans probably now have the picture you paint of the General's personality/relationship with his wife, etc., than even knew he existed a week or two ago.

And, well, did I mention it's funny?
