I've actually always liked the idea of basing certain difficult things - like immigration, for example - on a Survivor-like test. Yes, you can immigrate to the USA . . . but only if you can cook a meal using only what you can find on a desert island! And only if you're willing to eat a raw catfish fillet! (No, you can't just cook the catfish fillet on your desert island.)

The real point would just be to weed people out who aren't willing to try. Also, anyone who succeeds should definitely be allowed to immigrate just 'cause they're awesome.

Also, if you search for I129F on Google, the first hit is "Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)". The term "alien" in this context will never fail to make me laugh.
