I'll be really interested to see how the trial goes. Can they charge him with anything? Are there even laws against hypnotism? "All I did was look at them and tell them to give me the money. Is it really my fault they did?"

It will likely be treated as any other confidence scam. Hypnosis being seen as equivalent to winning their trust the harder way.
